Everything seem to happen right except when you need your printer the most – pages start to come out with faded type or sections missing from each page. You probably put it off as long as possible, but there’s no more time for excuses. You have to replace the cartridge. When considering the differences between toner and ink cartridges, first know that you’re talking about different printers. Toner is the printing material used by laser printers, and ink by inkjet printers.

Ink Cartridges

Inkjet Ink Cartridges are used in inkjet printers. The cartridge contains liquid ink, usually absorbed in a sponge. When creating a document, the print head simply deposits ink wherever it needs to go on the page.

Pros of Ink Cartridges

1.    They are inexpensive by comparison.

2.    They are cleaner and less prone to smudges.

3.    They are small and easy to replace.

4.    Suitable for home printing.

Toner Cartridges

Toner cartridges are used in laser printers. Instead of liquid ink, they are filled with a fine powder that can be magnetically charged. When printing documents, an electrically charged drum picks up the tiny particles and rolls them onto the page according to the pattern you printed. A laser then fuses these particles to the page with heat.

Pros of Toner Cartridges

1.    Toner means faster printing.

2.    Toner means higher picture quality.

3.    Toner means greater longevity.

4.    Suitable for office usage.

Now that you understand the major differences between toner and ink, you are ready to shop for printers and compatible replacement cartridges with confidence.
